Entries and winning
If a user has several entries in one draw, does each one count?
Yes. Each entry counts separately, so for each winner picked, someone with 5 entries is 5 times as likely to be the one as someone with 1. In a draw with several winners, each winner leaves the pool once picked, so the remaining entrants’ chances rise for the next pick. You send each user once per draw with their total, for example{"entrantId": "…", "entries": 5}. See Send entries.
Can one user win more than once in the same draw?
No. A person can win at most once per draw, however many entries they have. Winners are drawn one at a time, and once someone is picked they sit out the rest of that draw’s winner slots. They can still win in later draws. See How a draw is decided. How many winners does each draw have?
Each campaign sets it, from 1 to 500 winners per draw. If fewer people entered than there are winners, everyone who entered wins. How is each prize decided?
Each winner’s own roll against your campaign’s prize table picks their prize. The top prize can be won at most once per draw. Anyone can check every result from the draw’s public proof, see Verify a draw.Sending entries
How do we submit entries?
Your backend sends a pseudonymous id for each user and their number of entries toPOST /api/v1/campaigns/{slug}/entries, up to 1,000 per request. Make the ids with an HMAC of your user id, so they can’t be linked back to anyone. There’s a prizerail package for TypeScript and JavaScript (npm install prizerail). See Send entries.
Do we send entries once a day, or as they happen?
Either. You can send everyone once before the cutoff, in requests of up to 1,000, or update totals through the day. Sending a user again before the cutoff sets their entries to the new total, so a running total works, and repeating a request before the cutoff is safe. After the cutoff a repeat goes to the next draw instead, so theprizerail package splits large lists, retries, and stops near the cutoff for you.
When does each draw close?
Each campaign sets its draw time, time zone and entry cutoff, which we agree with you during setup. Entries sent after a cutoff go to the next draw. Your app can read the next cutoff from Get a campaign asnextDrawing.cutoffAt.
Can we try it before going live?
Yes. Ask us for a test account, where draws use test randomness and nothing real is paid, and draw any time with draw now. See Trying it out.Winners and payouts
Do you KYC winners before paying out?
Entering needs no ID check, and nothing changes in your sign-up flow. Today, Prizerail staff check each prize at or above your campaign’s large-prize threshold (largePrizeThresholdCents, $600 for new campaigns unless set otherwise) by hand before sending it, and you confirm your other winners are eligible before you pay them. Coming soon: the step will depend on a winner’s total prizes in the calendar year. Once a winner’s prizes add up to $600 or more in a year, Prizerail runs a full ID check with Sumsub, which also collects tax details for US winners, before that prize and the rest of the year’s are paid. Below $600 in total, your app has the winner confirm they’re eligible with a checkbox. See Claiming a prize.
How are prizes paid?
After each draw, Prizerail sends the prizes to your payout wallet in USDC on Base, and you pay your winners in your app. Prizes at or above your campaign’s large-prize threshold are held and sent after a check. See Payouts.Eligibility and free entry
Which countries and states are excluded?
US residents 18 or older can enter (19 in Alabama and Nebraska, 21 in Mississippi), except residents of Florida, New York and Rhode Island. Outside the US the same standard applies, and residents of countries under US sanctions, listed by OFAC, can’t enter. See Who can enter.Do we need to handle free entry (AMOE)?
Not once it launches: Prizerail will run free entry by mail for you and add those entrants to the same draw. It’s coming soon, so until it’s live, talk to us before you launch a campaign. See Free entry.Have a question that isn’t here? Ask us, and we’ll add the answer.
